Lymph

The lymphatic system. This is often a body system function that is highly overlooked!

The reason to explain the lymphatic system in detail is so you can achieve better energy and health along with brighter and clearer skin. Now who doesn't want that!

WHAT IS THE LYMPHATIC SYSTEM?

The role of the body's lymphatic system is to transport nutrients to the bodys cells from the blood and to remove any unwanted waste, in the form of lymph. The system is made up of a network of lymph vessels.Unlike the blood vessels, that make up the circulatory system, the lymphatic system does not have its own pumping action to transport it around the body. It relys on movement.

WHAT IS LYMPH?

The actual lymph substance is formed by the body's tissues in the spaces between the cells and the blood capillaries (the thinnest of blood vessles). This interstitial fluid is made up of 92-95% water along with amino acids, fats and minerals salts.

There are several points around the body called lymph nodes, felt in clusters at these points, such as under the armpits, groin, neck, back of the knee, these nodes are like the docking stations for that section of the body to work to. These nodes act as the filters for the lymph.

By acting as filters the lymph nodes are a barrier against harmful substances and germs trying to reach the blood stream from any part of the body tissues. These useful barriers also produce lymphocytes which are the main consistency of our white blood cells. A defense cell as it were to fight against germs and infections. So directly the lymph system is our nutrients, waste and defense. A vital body system in deed!

SYMPTOMS OF A POOR LYMPHATIC SYSTEM:

With this whole system process relying on movement to function well, it is easy to learn that people with a sedentary lifestyle, long hours of sitting and even when we sleep that lymph can become stagnat or accumulate in areas of the body causing symptoms such as :

TIREDNESS

SLUGGISHNESS

LETHARGY

INFLAMMATION

STIFFNESS

HEAVINESS IN THE LIMBS

SWELLING

PUFFY JOINTS/AREAS

ACNE

CELLULITE

INCREASED INFECTIONS

DULL LACKLUSTER SKIN

DRY SKIN CONDITIONS

DEHYDRATION

AGEING SKIN

The lymphatic system can also be slowed by tiredness, stress, nervous tension, cold and being over weight.

A poor or slow lymphatic system will build up the toxin waste products and this will poision the cells. The lymph will not be able to deliver the best or freshest nutrients well enough. The build up of stagnant lymph will make the fluid more viscous and thus In turn slower furthermore. Many people can also find they suffer more of this symptoms with age as the overall body metabolism and movement becomes slower.

THE GOOD NEWS !

There are a number of ways you can improve this flow and start to see and feel many health related concerns improve.

  • An obvious one would be movement. Exercising, walking and stretching routines all help.

  • Warmth can help cold and tension concerns

  • Exfoliation and dry body brushing can assist the movement of stagnat fluid.

  • Self massage working towards the nearest node points helps particular easy for for the facial area. You can get a thorough guide with my facial exercise workshop available in person or online. Where we will teach you the best flow direction, node points and routine to easily do yourself regularly at home.

THE LOWER PART OF THE BODY IS THE HARDEST!

The leg area can particular be difficult to improve as it is furthest away and quite simply gravity prevents the flow to thier nearest node point behind the back of the knee and groin area.

HOW TO TREAT LEG LYMPHATIC FLOW BEST

The legs can greatly benefit from regular massage where you are laying flat on the massage table allowing the therapist to manipulate the flow for you. The pressure does not need to be firm as the fluid sits just below the skins surface, it just needs to be thoughtfully and thoroughly performed.

Electrical treatments can also benefit a stagnat lymphatic system. Electrical therapy can stimulate the points of flow and provide stimulation to the surrounding tissues assisiting to increase the metabolism and function. Give our Caci Quantum lymph treatment a go.
